![]() The Gears for the Tiers Charitable Fund was created in 2009 with the goals of supporting bicycle races in their goal to raise much needed dollars for local charities and to provide education on children's bicycle safety. The fund is actively managed by the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and Finger Lakes, Inc., giving it a Federal 501c(3) designation and making all contributions tax deductible!
In 2010 and 2011, The Fund supported the Corning Circuit Race. The event was created to raise money and community awareness for a local charity while also providing a fun and exciting event in which local cyclists and their families could participate. From 2008 to 2011, $10,000 was raised for two local Meals on Wheels organizations (Meals on Wheels of Chemung County and Corning Meals on Wheels), the Josh Palmer Fund, which supports local cancer patients, the Corning Area Youth Center and the Elmira Southside Community Center. Over 60 children have been taught bicycle safety and given free helmets and safety equipment through the work of our programs.
